Nakajima Auto Industry Co., Ltd., Osaka, 1918-40
中島自動車工業株式会社
This company has long history being originally founded in 1918. They made tricycle utility vehicles initially using imported American Smith Motor Wheel engines (actually, the American Smith product was a copy of a design by Arthur William Wall of the UK - it was also used by companies like Toyota), and then engines of their own manufacture (likely J.A.P. copies although one ad seems to show an Indian engine) for vehicles sold under the Yamarta (ヤマータ号) brand. The locally produced engines were 649cc sv four stroke single cylinder engines.
Manufacture of the Yamarta stopped just prior to WWII when the founder of the company died. The company was reformed post war as an auto parts supplier and continues today as Nakajima B.C. There is an interesting company history with additional information at this link.
