E24 Australia
All models sold appear to have conformed to general export specifications with just a couple of exceptions:
- The mirrors are specific to Australia - 56500-31601 for the right and 56600-31601 for the left for the M, A and B models. Per the copy of the Australian Vehicle Standards, Information Bulletin 6, and specifically ADR#14, this is because they must both have the same type of glass (whether flat or magnifying). A copy of the Australian Motorcycle design rules can be downloaded at this link. The mirrors may also have had longer stems - that is still to be confirmed.
- a front brake light switch was added for the B model.
- The headlamp lens was specific for driving in the left lane
Below are copies from the Australian E24 specific parts list for the M through B models:
This is an example of the Austrlian specific VIN plate (I've obscured the frame numbers). And this is appears to be a transitional 'A' model - this bike is located in Melbourne, Australia at Steve's Antique Motorcycles and was built in June of 1976 and has a frame numberof GT750-756XX so quite late in the 'A' series production. The bike appears to have original paint, but having 'B' tank striping with an 'A' colour. It is possible the single stay front fender is not original - still to be confirmed. There may be other examples out there !
