1972 Suzuki GT750J Colours
The frame was black (Suzuki colour code 019). Outside of Japan, the 1972 model came in three colours: Newport Blue ( also known as Candy Jackal Blue and was Suzuki colour code 195), California Burgundy (also called Candy Lavender and colour code 216) and a gold which was Candy Yellow Ochre (colour code 253). The gold colour was apparently not offered in the USA, but it was available Canada, Switzerland and probably elsewhere.. For additional colours offered in all markets, see here for additional details.
The tank, radiator tank flap, headlamp bucket, fork ears, frame side covers and the radiator end covers are all painted the main body colour. The contrasting colour used as accent/trim on the fuel tank in all cases was called Pure White, which was Suzuki colour code 64. Three tank striping patterns are recorded: '533' using 216 with 64 trim, '534' using 195 with 64 trim and '515' using 253 with 64 trim.
The radiator tank flap cover located on the top of the fuel tank and ahead of the fuel cap was metal (for the 1973 models plastic covers were used) and was striped to match the top stripes on the tank. The warning decal was located on the tank flap, centred between the two white stripes. More detail on label placement can be found here.
The tank badges used a red fill on the Suzuki text, raised 'chrome look' edge and matt black fill between the letters. The frame side cover badges said 'Water Cooled 750' with the '750' having metallic flecked orange filled numbers. Later NOS replacement badges from Suzuki used a red rather than orange flecked fill. The polished aluminium surround and raised letter faces were highlighted by a matt black painted fill between the numbers and letters.
